I can clarify some info (been playing the game for awhile now and have a YT series for it).The game itself is not region locked. You just have to follow a guide with the initial setup and bam you can play. I'm playing from Canada for example. I recently invested in some time on Mudfish to help with the latency and disconnects that happen, and they have all but disappeared using it.There are plenty of resources to get. English wikipedia that is constantly updated.

An english speaking Discord group (and server where there are a lot of english players). Cough some Youtube videos/tutorials by Helix101 cough;)There used to be time restrictions and limited hunts, but they've removed all of that thankfully. The last major patch added new mechanics more like Generations which was great. If anything the game as a whole is more accessible now! There are some pros and cons to the game (noticeable lack of polish in animations/sfx aside from the beautiful graphics) but all in all it's a fun game and still has the core mechanics of MH. I'm gonna make this comparison: It's more akin to Freedom Unite with elements from Generations, and a growing roster of monsters each major patch. There is no requirement to pay anything to play unless you want to shell out 40$ for cosmetic armor.Let me know if you have more questions!.

There is no region lock on Online, just a language barrier. There are two PC Monster Hunter genes: Frontier and Online. Neither is made by the main MH team.

Neither has a working English patch.Frontier started in 2007 and has gotten regular updates, so there is a ton of content. It's available in Japanese and Taiwanese. The Japanese version has an IP block (circumventable with a VPN) and a subscription fee after a certain HR. The Taiwanese version is free to play and doesn't have an IP block, but is a few updates behind.

From what I've heard from people that play it, there are a lot of difference, but it's still cost to the MH you know than Online.Online is made specifically for the Chinese market. It's free to play with no IP block, but with microtransactions. It entered beta a year or two ago, so there isn't as much content or polish as frontier, but the graphics are better.' Worth playing' is subjective and varies by person. From the things I've heard, Frontier interests me more, but both are inaccessible to me due to technical limitations (MMOs aren't an option on satellite for a variety of reasons).
