Thank you Basilica, sadly my father passed away earlier in the week. Also my aunt a few days later. That's all the family in the generation above me from my father's side of the family. I don't see the rest of my aunts and uncle from my mother's side. They live in Australia. It feels really strange. All I've done for the past year since my uncle passed is search out family photos and I've been editing thousands of feet of family cine film, which I'm going to have scanned, then distribute amongst my brother, sister, and cousins. My grandfather was a close associate of Sam Hannah, the inventor and film archivist, so I was introduced to photography and film when I was really young via his workshop and darkroom.

Whiterabbit - I am deeply sorry for you loss - please accept my condolences - I wish you and your family the time to grieve and heal.
I love old photogaph but my family tends to throw away everything. My mom threw away a lot of stuff when my father died despite my sister's and my begging we would help to clean out his flat (they were seperated when he died).

So sorry to hear of your loss, Whiterabbit. We lost four members of the family, including my mother, plus about a dozen friends within one year, so I know how you're feeling. You have my deepest sympathy and sincere condolences.
I hope your father had the same kind of wonderful care in his last weeks as Mum had, and that his passing was calm and free from distress. He is at peace now. No more pain, no more fear.
The photos will be a wonderful source of memories for you, and tug at your heartstrings as you go through them. Take your time over them, and give yourself time to mourn and to begin to heal.
